The Utah Valley University McKay Education Student Success Center showcases Hadfield’s expertise in managing and executing educational construction projects.

This 6,056 square foot facility was designed to meet the growing needs of UVU’s School of Education, addressing a critical lack of collaborative, study, and leisure spaces for students. The construction was uniquely challenging as it involved integrating the new structure within the confines of an existing courtyard. This required innovative architectural solutions to maximize natural lighting—achieved through large windows at the north end and ribbon windows around a two-story clerestory—enhancing both the aesthetics and environmental comfort of the learning spaces.

The new student success center includes state-of-the-art technology, new labs, and collaboration rooms designed to foster learning and innovation among students and faculty. An expanded innovation lab serves as a hub for student work and collaborative learning, significantly enhancing the educational facilities. An outdoor seating area extends the usable space and integrates the indoor and outdoor learning environments, making it a standout feature of the development. By successfully implementing these features, Hadfield Construction has contributed to creating a dynamic and functional space that supports UVU’s mission of expanding educational opportunities and facilities in response to its growth.
